Lumen Christi provides a dynamic yet flexible curriculum which incorporates positive and innovative teaching and learning strategies. School Hours

Students are required to attend lessons between 9:00am - 3:20 pm each day.   Breaks throughout the day are:

• 10:46am - 11:20am (Recess Break)
• 1:01pm - 1:40pm (Lunch Break)

Religious Education 

The Catholic school finds its true justification in the mission of the Church in announcing the good news of God's love for us.  It is based on the educational philosophy in which faith, culture and life are brought into harmony.  Through it the local Church evangelises, educates and contributes to the formation of a healthy and morally sound lifestyle among its members.  

While recognising that not all students in our schools are members of the Catholic church we are committed to nurturing all students in our care within the Catholic tradition.  

Project Based Learning in Year 9

Project Based Learning, or PBL, can assist students to become more engaged in their learning and to gain knowledge which they retain longer. PBL can also provide the opportunity for students to apply the skills they learn to personally relevant and real-world situations, including the ability to think critically, solve problems, work in teams and make presentations to a diverse audience. These skills will help students succeed in the future, both in school and in today’s work world.

Lumen Christi's Year 9 students participate in PBL for one Semester each school year.  

Students activities include design and build solutions, researching on the Internet, interviewing community members, preparing a presentation, creating video and using technology.   Each student studies as part of a team as well as undertaking individual project work. 

Students are assessed individually and as part of their team project, based on the knowledge they gain and the skills they demonstrate.

Learning with Technology

The Australian Curriculum has embedded Information Communication Technology in all subject areas, resulting in students requiring improved access to technology as part of the learning process.

Lumen Christi is committed to continually developing best teaching and learning practices by adopting and integrating information and communication technologies.  

We focus on how technology can enhance teaching and improve the level of student engagement and learning outcomes for our students.  Learning with technology at Lumen Christi is based on the need to ensure our students are not only equipped with information technology skills to engage in everyday life, but also in higher education and the work force.  

Sport

Students are able to participate in competitive and social sports including swimming, cross country, athletics, netball, tennis, basketball, cricket, hockey and various codes of football. Sporting opportunities are also available for students to represent the College at local, regional, state and national level. The College also invities students to apply for the Athlete Development Program and Kindergarten to Year 4 Swim Program.  For further information about these Programs, please contact the College.
