I have very fond and vivid memories of my time at Lumen Christi. The beginning years of a new venture are very exciting and there was a great deal of interest from the local community too. The local residents of Pambula Beach were saddened by the loss of their Bowling and Recreation Club but were equally pleased to know the site would become a school.

The fields for job vacancies, as they became available each year for an expanding school, were quite strong. This meant that we were able to secure professional and energetic staff. This was so necessary as all the programs, policies and procedures had to be developed from scratch.

The College qualified for the NSW Country Area Program which meant that additional financial resources were available for professional development. The staff were very grateful for the opportunity to attend conferences and engage with high quality professional learning workshops. This helped set the culture amongst the staff of employing contemporary and engaging pedagogy in the classroom for the students. The success in student outcomes especially in NAPLAN and HSC results reflected the focus on quality teaching and learning.
