Shining Lights Week 1, Term 3, 20/07/2023
Faith in Action
Lumen Christi staff participate in an annual Spirituality Day and this year, the focus was putting our Scriptural Theme, “Be kind and compassionate to one another,” into action through service in the local community.
“A life not lived for others is a life not lived”
St Teresa of Calcutta
The day began with Mass, with Fr George emphasising the importance of humility and supporting each other in our everyday service as “formators” of the students; guiding them to “walk with each other as sisters and brothers united in love!”
“Actions speak louder than words; let your words teach and your actions speak.”
St Anthony of Padua
Inspired by the words of saints, staff supported the work of a range of wonderful organisations and charities providing much needed local services. Thank you to those who provide these services daily: St Vincent De Paul Society, Salvation Army, Sapphire Life Opportunities, Tulgeen, Pambula Rotary, Pambula Surf Life Saving Club, Potoroo Palace, Panboola Wetlands, Albert Moore Gardens, Candelo Show Committee and Parish communities.
“Aspire not to have more but to be more”
St Oscar Romero
Previous Spirituality Days have focused on Catholic Social Teaching, Pope Francis’ encyclicals “Laudato Si” and “Fratelli Tutti”, the importance of prayer and our College charism, which is based on Jesus’ Transfiguration. This year, as we strive to live our College motto, to “be the light of Christ”, in the everyday challenges we face, may we find strength in the prayer of St Christopher:
Father, grant that we may be bearers of Christ Jesus, Your Son.
Allow us to fill the world around us with Your light.
Strengthen us, by Your Holy Spirit, to carry out our mission of living and following the path of Jesus, our Lord.
