Dear Families of Lumen Christi Catholic College,
As Christmas comes upon us this year, on behalf of the staff of the College, I wish you a happy and holy time together.
On that first Christmas, the template for Christmas celebrations was set. We will, like Mary and Joseph set out for our home towns and family places as we celebrate the day together. Many of us, like the shepherds in the field will join together in the angelic songs of Christmas carols, and like the wise men from the east, we will bring presents to share.
It’s a very old story, and a simple one. A child was born in a humble place, and we celebrate that as an important fact. The child was Jesus, Christ the redeemer. The significance is noted in Mathew’s Gospel, his naming meaning, “God is with us”.
Every Christmas celebration is about the hope that new birth brings. It is central point of Christian life that God dwells with and within us, that hope and grace are central to our lives, and that joy is the first gift.
Enjoy the Christmas break with family and friends alike
Gloria in Excelsis Deo!
Be the light of Christ
Shane Giles
Principal
Congratulations to all our students who completed the HSC this year and to all their teachers, support staff and families who have nurtured them throughout their education. Today's release of HSC results is an exciting culmination of the scholarship, work and dedication of our learning community.
We congratulate for those who were on the Distinguished Achievers list: Zara De Jong (Biology and Business Studies), Isabel Dibley and Sam Hsiao (Music 1), Chelsea Hughes (Modern History) and Maya Slipper (Hospitality)
We had many students receiving Bands 5 and 6 in several subjects, with 30% of our results being in these higher bands. In particular, Construction, Maths Standard 1/Extension 1 and 2, Hospitality, Music and Drama were significantly above the state’s average for results in these higher bands.
Congratulations also to our year 11 students who completed Year 12 VET Hospitality and VET Construction as early commencement studies.
We are particularly proud of the students who showed a growth mindset, overcame challenges, helped each other out, gave back to the wider community and worked consistently throughout their schooling. Those who shared their talents in the classroom, on stage, on the sportsground and with our younger students.
We wish them all success in the future. Congratulations to the Class of 2024.
