Dear Parents/Carers
College Communications
Thank-you for your ongoing patience with the number of communication platforms the school is using. At the Community Council Meeting last week, I explained that we are working on a resolution. To briefly explain why we are in this situation, Lumen Christi has been using Sentral in a comprehensive manner for several years for wellbeing information, rolls, reports, interviews, email communication and a range of other functions. Late last year there was a very sudden migration from Catholic Education Canberra Goulburn to a new finance package for our school which required our finances (including excursions, permission notes, other events) to move to Compass. This involved very little preparation or training time for our school staff in what has proven to be a very challenging process.
Eventually, Compass will be able to accommodate all the functions that Sentral, Schoolzine and other platforms the school uses. Unfortunately, the integration of data between Sentral – which holds all our historical information for staff and students – and Compass is very poor. So we can access all information in supporting our students and families, CECG is working on solutions that ensure we can migrate our data onto the one platform so there is continuity, consistency and efficiency in managing information. In the meantime, we understand your frustrations and appreciate your patience.
Primary Playground
At the Community Council, a question was raised through the parent survey about the primary play area and the possibility of utilising the green space along Pambula Beach Rd. I am pleased to advise that the school is underway with a plan to transform this area into a multi-facetted and secure primary play area. This does require some engineering to level the area and will take some time, but we are excited about what it will eventually provide for our students.

Did you know that Catholic Education and our school has a Child Safe Policy which outlines our approach to child safety. This can be accessed on the Catholic Education Safeguarding Page. We encourage you to visit this page and review our policy. As part of our approach to child safety Justin Short is also our school's Child Safe Advocate who works closely with our school regarding our approach and response to child safety matters. This approach involves pro active strategies to safeguard our students as well as responding to areas of concerns. The area of child safety includes many parts of a school's operation such as day to day activities, school events and school camps. We encourage you to contact us should you like to discuss this further.
