Dear Parents and Carers
Today an announcement has been made that there will be a new direction in governance for Catholic Education within the Archdiocese. A link to the announcement is below for your information:
https://cgcatholic.org.au/about/our-archbishop/addresses-and-statements/new-era-in-governance-of-ce/
It is intended that very little will change within schools as a result of this governance change. Further updates will be provided as the initiative progresses.
Kind regards
Shane Giles
Dear Families,
This week we commenced the Church season of Lent in preparation for the celebration of Easter. We began with the traditions of Shrove Tuesday, which is a time to use up the perishables in the larder in preparation of the fasting of Lent. Also known as Pancake Tuesday, students shared a pancake and ice cream morning tea!
Lent begins official on Ash Wednesday. Ash Wednesday traditions remind us of our mortality and the need to live lives of gospel values and faith. Community members are anointed with ashes to remind us of the dust of our creation. Throughout Lent, is a time of fasting and abstinence. During this time, we may abstain from eating meat on Friday, give up that special treat that we crave or resolve to take up a service activity.
Lumen Christi Catholic College supports Project Compassion as its Lenten commitment. Please join with us in supporting the work of Caritas around the world.
Be the Light of Christ
Shane
With the commencement of Lent, so is our introduction of the Lent Menu which is available every Friday. To place a lunch order for Friday you must first choose the Lent Lunch Menu from the QKR! Dashboard. The usual Lunch Summer Menu will not be available on Fridays.

Dear Parents and Carers
Welcome to the 2024 school year.
As a way of welcoming new students and families, as well as welcoming back current Lumen Christi families, we are having a Primary Beach Picnic and activity afternoon. All Kinder to Year 6 students and their families are invited to come along to Pambula Beach to enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, followed by a games afternoon on Pambula Beach.
The picnic is a great way to begin our school year and gives both students and families the opportunity to meet each other and form new friendships. We also get to use our lovely beach environment to have a fun afternoon of games and activities.
Below are the details of the excursion:
- Friday, 16 of February 2024
- Pambula Life Saving Club, Pambula Beach
- 11.45am Depart Lumen and walk to Pambula Beach
- 3.10pm Arrive back at Lumen
- Students will walk to the beach in their class groups
- Students are invited to bring something to sit on, food to share with their friends and any equipment to play on the beach.
Dear Year 3 & 4 Parents/Carers,
