.... “Finishing Strong”
As we start to head towards the end of the year, I am reminded of a story I saw on YouTube about legendary American swimmer Michael Phelps – arguably the greatest of all time. It examines his ability to finish strong and how important that focus is on what might be the smallest of details; the smallest extra amount of effort. It is a mindset that I encouraged our current Year 12 students to adopt after their trial exams as they entered the final phase of study.
For all students, one of the simplest things they can do is make sure they are ready to learn in order to set the up for success. Things like have their equipment (eg. pens, pencils, rulers, calculators), making sure their devices are charged and they get a good sleep are simple things that form a part of our Ready to Learn focus. As we head into the end of the year, I encourage parents to have conversations with their children to see if they are doing the little things that will ensure they finish string in 2022
