CBCA Children's Book Week 2025: Book an Adventure!
An audible waterfall trailing past a campsite with hidden native reptiles and amphibians has sprung up in the Lumen library! It must be Book Week very soon… in fact, it’s just a few weeks away!
All of Week 5 this term, primary students will be celebrating CBCA Children's Book Week. The theme for Book Week 2025 is "Book an Adventure.”
Book Week celebrates literacy and a love of reading, books and book characters. It is a week that students come together and enjoy sharing their favourite books and characters with their peers and the wider college community. We also celebrate the CBCA award shortlist and read the celebrated books in class. The shortlist and many of the notables, are currently on display in the library… and there are many!
This year we have two visiting authors, timed to celebrate Book Week. Sofie Laguna will work with some of the students in years 5 – 12, and Catherine Meatheringham will visit K – 4. Such visits further enhance our wonderful literacy work across the school.
Book Week will culminate on Friday 22 August at 9:15am in the Lumen Hall with a Character Parade. Primary parents and carers are welcome to come and watch the parade. K – 6 students from each class will introduce their character and the book that it comes from (which they do not have to bring) and parade their characters past the audience.
Robert Irwin from Australia Zoo (or someone trying to look like him), will be visiting to help award prizes for Most Creative, Best Effort and Most Bookish. We are looking forward to another fantastic Book Week and seeing all the wonderful characters that students portray on the day.
