Correspondence from the Executive Director - Election of Pope Leo XIV
Dear Colleagues
Welcome to Week 3 of term 2.
I do hope that this term has started well for each of you, our students, and their families.
On Friday morning we awoke to the news that the white smoke had risen out of the chimney of the Sistine Chapel, signalling that the Cardinals had voted and that a new Pope had been chosen. We are delighted to acknowledge the appointment of Pope Leo XIV to lead our Church.
A Statement from Archbishop Christopher Prowse on the election of Pope Leo XVI is available, see attached.
I encourage you to read Archbishop Christopher’s statement on the occasion of the announcement of the 267th successor of St Peter.
Principals, I would be grateful if you could share the statement from Archbishop Christopher with the members of your school community.
Archbishop Christopher concludes his letter with:
We now enter a time of prayer as Pope Leo XIV prepared for his formal installation and begins his ministry as the Bishop of Rome. With gratitude for the legacy of Pope Francis, we move forward with confidence, trusting the Holy Spirit to lead us through this Jubilee pilgrimage of hope. I ask all the faithful to join me in prayer for Pope Leo XIV as he undertakes this God given mission.
Therefore, let us join together in offering our prayers for Pope Leo XIV.
With best wishes for the week ahead.
Warm regards
Pam Betts
